WestlawNext has been out in the real world for a few months now, and after a flurry of pre-launch reviews by bloggers with preview passwords, more reviews are showing up on blogs for lawyers and law librarians.
Ryan Harrington, a reference librarian at Yale Law School, recently wrote a very thorough and thoughtful WestlawNext review that appeared on the on the AALL Spectrum blog. The post wasn’t entirely positive, either. Harrington highlighted some specific problems that he came across while running test searches in WestlawNext.
If you scroll through the comments at the end of the post, you’ll see that Mike Dahn, our VP of product development, responded point by point to each of the concerns raised by Harrington. Dahn’s response provides some detailed insight into the inner workings of WestlawNext and the planning and rationale behind it.
